On Continuing

Excuse me a second as I blow the dust off my blogging engine will you? Ahem. There we go.

Hello, hypothetical audience, it has been such a long time hasn’t it? I figured, since this fully armed and operational… I mean URL’d up blog is actually getting some intermittent content from me once again I might as well hammer keys to circuit board and actually blog again, but more on that later. First, since it’s been such a long time since I did this outside of fiction, how are you all?

Oh excellent. Mhmm. Good. Me? Eh, I’ve been better. I’m currently out of work due to a combination of economics and some other factors I shan’t go in to due to a sense of professionalism, but needless to say I’m attempting to find creative industry work in an economy that’s a little unsettled right now, euphemistically speaking, so you can imagine how well that’s going. You can also imagine the effect it’s having on my psyche and finances too. On the flip side, at least it’s giving me some more time to focus on my writing, which those of you who’ve been hanging around for a while might have noticed some more of over the last 18 months. Time, at least, is something I have in spades right now.

So where does that leave the Adventures? Well, as I said up there somewhere, I’m currently of a mind to actually blog again along side the fiction portfolio I’ve been building here. It probably won’t be a return to the golden age of weekly musing that was 2014/15, mostly because coming up with something meaningful on a weekly schedule is difficult as all hell. But (But!) I will probably try to post something whenever the time and tide takes me, on whatever has been dancing about my brain at the time. Hopefully I can make this stick, but otherwise there’ll still be the periodic blast of fiction coming your way too.

On the subject of fiction, and my writing in general, some updates on that: Now The Big Stink, which was my NaNoWriMo project from last November (Long story. Excuse pun.), is out there in the wild (and you should really go read), I’m going to talk in a bit more detail about future fiction plans. I’m still writing, like, a lot, since it’s relatively free do to, but currently the long term plan is to get my writing career kickstarted in to something beyond just throwing my work out there online. Sorry to break it to you like that, but the audience doesn’t really exist on here (yet, anyway) to make it a viable career. Something something, writers on the internetbeing a bit of a less-valued creative outlet.

So I’ve been doing a lot of stuff with an eye for selling to various outlets and so on, to the point I’ve currently received two, coun’t ‘em, two rejections from actual magazines. This is a step in the right direction, career wise, but it does mean a lot of stuff probably won’t be seen here at least at first. The majority of stuff appearing here will likely be either stuff I’ve written for my own enjoyment or things I want to retain rigid control over, but anything that’s intended for sale and doesn’t land anywhere will also probably find a home here (wait, that sounded worse than I intended). If anything gets taken in anywhere, I’ll definitely be talking about where and when you can grab your own slice of Ndro here, you can count on that.

Which leads me neatly on to NaNoWriMo. As I said, The Big Stink was last years project, but right now, as of this moment, I’m in the planning stages for this years short story project, which has lined up neatly really. No spoilers, mostly down to I’ve no idea whats going on yet, but I hope to be spending November in between everything else once more typing like an absolute man possessed. I’ve no idea if it’s going to be quite the piece The Big Stink was, but it’ll be something. Hopefully it’ll be out in less than 10 months this time around. Hopefully. Either way, once again I’ll be doing regular updates and word counts on mine Twits and (new for the 2018 season) Mastadon, which can be found over at the Elsewhere On The Internet page, so follow along with NdroWriMo2: Electric Boogaloo. Or somesuch. It’ll be a blast (caveat lector: Blast no guaranteed, your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments).
